Someone who is reliable, enthusiastic, honest and has excellent work ethic and time management. This position will work alongside the Low Order Share milker and Herd Manager. Farm Tasks include  Milking: Assists in efficient and hygienic milking routine. Follows procedure to produce high quality milk. Animals: Assists in the safe handling of animals, reports any health and welfare issues as per farm policy. Feed: Controls weeds. Sets break fences and feeds out as directed. Effluent:  Understands how the effluent system operates and shifts irrigator correctly. Machine, Vehicles and Technology: Safely drives and maintains vehicles on farm as directed by on farm policy. Looking for an experienced relief milker for OAD 340 cow herd near Edgecumbe. This is a contracted arrangement - with typically 1-2 AM milkings per week involving bringing cows to shed on 2-wheeler motorbike - milking - washing up - locking cows away and (occasionally shifting cows in PM) Must have a reliable form of transport + know your way around a shed unsupervised + comfortable working solo.

We are looking for an experienced 2IC to join us for the remainder of the 2026/2027 season. Our farm is located in Northern Southland - milking 1000 cows through a 50 bail rotary with Afimilk collars, Protrack drafting and automatic cup removers. You will be working with the sharemilkers and other staff members. Key duties will be milking, ensuring milk quality and shed hygiene is maintained to a high standard and assisting with feeding of stock as advised by sharemilker. You must be able to assist with all calving and mating requirements, be able to record information accurately and have good knowledge of animal health and welfare. You must be able to communicate effectively within a team, comply with all health and safety policies and take pride in maintaining a clean and tidy dairy platform. You must also be able to drive a tractor and be confident using implements.  There is a warm 3 bedroom house with a fire available.  Relief work will be available for a partner also....
