Kowhai Downs is Fonterra supplier in the Maruia Valley, made up of a 400ha dairy farm, peak milking 840 cross bred cows, as well as 250ha of adjacent support land running 180 R1 and R2 replacement heifers. Relief Milker needed to help with staff days off  Looking for a drive in milker to assist our team. Milking twice a day, cups on 4.30am and 2.30pm.  

We are looking for an experienced 2IC to join us for the remainder of the 2026/2027 season. Our farm is located in Northern Southland - milking 1000 cows through a 50 bail rotary with Afimilk collars, Protrack drafting and automatic cup removers. You will be working with the sharemilkers and other staff members. Key duties will be milking, ensuring milk quality and shed hygiene is maintained to a high standard and assisting with feeding of stock as advised by sharemilker. You must be able to assist with all calving and mating requirements, be able to record information accurately and have good knowledge of animal health and welfare. You must be able to communicate effectively within a team, comply with all health and safety policies and take pride in maintaining a clean and tidy dairy platform. We are looking for a Farm Assistant We are based on the Kaikoura Flat, a short 5 minute drive from Kaikoura township. We milk 950 cows through a 60 bail rotary, with twice a day milking for most of the year. The milking shed has recent technology including, Protrack, ACR’s, automatic teat spray, SCC and milk monitoring capabilities. We are targeting a driven individual that wants to develop themselves, with support of our experienced farm management team. Due to expansion within our business, we are looking for someone to help our runoff manager. We are a family owned business with five dairy farms and a number of runoffs. We do a significant amount of the contracting work "in house," so are searching for someone with a wide range of skills. Your daily work would be quite varied and would include tractor/ground work, silage/baleage making, and stock work. Over winter we help to shift the dairy cows on crop and sometimes may do some milkings on the dairy farms. We work as a team so require someone with great communication skills and the ability to get on with a wide range of people. You will report to our runoff manager, who will provide support and training as needed. A positive attitude and a high work ethic are needed. There will be times (e.g. baleage making), where the hours will be long, but you will be working with a great team. Start date has some flexibility.
