Milking, good shed hygiene, winter grazing, spring calving, calf feeding, AB for 10+ weeks, good animal husbandry ( find sick, lame cows and even in heat cows ), ability to both identify a problem and then problem solve, general maintenance and deal with the unexpected. ( just like any other farming day ). No collars, no feed pad. In shed feeding. One herd. 2 and 4 wheel motorcycle skill required. And good portable fencing nous.
Nice tiny home, but probably may be a squeeze for two and/or children.
Comfortable dealing with hill country on a motorcycle, in day and night time.
No interviews until later in April 2025 / early May 2025.
Roster of 8/2 8/3 or 5.5/1.5 5.5/1.5 can also be discussed.
Know the motto of the The Farming Show 'turning grass into milk'
Must be patient in the milking shed.
Must have had prior sole charge experience on a dairy farm ( even for a short time frame is fine); with an available reference to substantiate this claim.
