We are looking for a farm assistant who is passionate about pastural farming and caring for livestock.  We milk an 800 cow cross bred herd through a 50 aside herring bone shed. The normal daily tasks consists of milking, shifting the effluent irrigator, shifting break fences, moving cows, feeding supplements, helping with calf feeding, and all sorts of farm maintenance.  We are hoping to find someone that is keen to grow, progress, and master the art of farming. Milking : Assist with the milking of 650 jersey cross cows through a 36 aside herringbone shed Calf Rearing:  Feeding and monitoring the health of 250+ calves, and preserving a clean and healthy                                  environment Farm maintenance ; including the up-keep of machinary, fences, waterlines and weed control Stock management : Moving and drafting stock, and setting up of break fences. Machinary Operation : Operating 2 and 4 wheel bikes, and Tractors for the purpose of general farm tasks Health and Safety : Adhere to farm safety protocols, and environmental guidelines 

This position is 20 minutes from Ashburton Must be living in New Zealand now to apply for this job  and be either a NZ citizen or have a residency visa if you  have at least one years NZ dairy experience that would be good but also if you  have a can do attitude and are willing to learn you will also be considered must  be drug free as we drug test at Random through the year have no criminal convictions. We have a position available for a Dairy Farm Assistant on a 460-cow farm in the Temple View area, approximately 10–15 minutes west of Hamilton. The farm operates a 27 Aside Herringbone milking shed. Previous experience is preferred but not required for this role. You'll have a range of duties to keep you busy, interested and developing including: - Milking twice a day - shifting cows and feeding  - fencing, weed control - calving, calf rearing - shed cleaning and setup - identifying and alerting managers to sick cows - Setting fences - and other general farm duties. Weekly hours are a minimum of 30, with an average of 40 and a maximum of 50.
