We are seeking a team member for our farming operation that consists of a dairy farm and a support block on which winter crops, grain and silage/baleage is produced. The successful applicant's core role would mean that they require experience in operating tractors along with a range of implements and possess at least a basic knowledge of agriculture and livestock farming in New Zealand. Experience operating precision farming technology, front and rear mounted mowers, trucks, an excavator, and grain handling equipment would also be beneficial. Our farm is 205ha of rolling contour located 15 minutes North of Gore in the Maitland area. We milk 565 XB cows producing ~240,000kgms through a 40 bale rotary shed with in-shed feeding, automatic cup removers and pneumatic drafting. Due to our staff member returning home overseas we now have a position available on our dairy farm that we contract milk in opio, near nightcaps. We will be calving 540 cows to milk between 520-530 cows through a 32 ashb with acrs, in shed feeding, auto teat sprayer and protract. The cows have all flex collars. The cows are wintered on farm on 2 feed pads which have self feed stacks, so not feeding out in the tractor everyday.  Calving is also done on pad with straw and rubber matts. We are located in Thornbury, approximately 15/20 minutes from Invercargill and 12 minutes from Riverton. We are milking 460 cows through a 40 aside herringbone shed and you will be always be milking with one other person.  Remuneration will be based on experience, there may be a fuel allowance provided also. Extra work may be available such as getting cows in, doing the plant wash, hosing the yard and weed control.
