We have a job for a Dairy Farm Assistant requiring at least 6+ months of dairy farm experience. This is for a 620-cow farm in the Ashburton area, milking through a 60 Bail Rotary shed. You'll have a range of duties to keep you busy, interested and developing including: - Milking twice a day - shifting cows and feeding  - fencing, weed control - calving, calf rearing - shed cleaning and setup - identifying and alerting managers to sick cows - Setting fences - and other general farm duties. Weekly hours are a minimum of 30, with an average of 40 and a maximum of 45. Since farm work is dependent on a number of unknown factors like weather and animals, any hours worked beyond the agreed maximum in a fortnightly pay period will be paid   at the agreed overtime rate.   The schedule may vary; Roster will be 6 days on, 2 days off throughout the year. We are small family owned and operated dairy farm with 450 jersey cows looking for our next permanent full-time Farm Assistant. This is due to our current employee relocating towns due to her partners job promotion. Our farm is located in the Canterbury foothills in Mount Somers which is 20 minutes from Methven and 30 minutes to Ashburton and we milk twice daily through a 40 aside herringbone cowshed with grain feeders, auto cup removers and auto teat spray. We are a family run farm located within easy access of the town of Kaikoura. Situated between the mountains and the sea, our farm is well located to take advantage of the hunting and fishing opportunities that Kaikoura offers.
