About the Role
Are you practical, reliable, and ready to work with top-tier farming technology? We are seeking a hands-on Dairy Farm Assistant to join our experienced team on a high-performing 1500-cow dairy farm in Ashburton.
This is a varied, fast-paced role operating a modern 80-bale rotary shed fully equipped with Halter and Protrack technologies. If you want to grow your skills in a tech-forward farming environment, this is the perfect opportunity.
Key Responsibilities
- Milking & Technology: Undertake daily milking in our 80-bale rotary shed using Halter and Protrack systems, while maintaining high shed hygiene.
- Herd Management: Assist with day-to-day herd management, animal health, calving, and accurate record-keeping.
- Pasture & Feed: Assist with feed, pasture, weed, and pest management.
- Machinery & Maintenance: Operate farm machinery safely and assist with general repairs, maintenance, and daily farm duties.
- Compliance: Maintain high standards for animal welfare, environmental management, and health and safety.
What We Are Looking For
While previous dairy experience is an advantage, your attitude, reliability, and genuine interest in farming matter most.
- Experience: Dairy farming experience OR a strong desire to learn and work with livestock.
- Capabilities: Confident handling animals, operating machinery, physically fit, and able to use initiative.
- Work Ethic: Reliable, safety-conscious, and a great team player who communicates well.
- Requirements: Must hold a current driver licence and have the legal right to work in New Zealand.
