Temporary Farm Assistant – Calving Season (North Otago)
We're looking for an experienced farm assistant to join our team on a large-scale 1,200-cow dairy farm at Maheno, North Otago, from now through to the end of December. This role has come up due to an unforeseen off-farm injury to existing staff, and is a temporary/seasonal position covering calving, with potential to lead into full-time work for the right person.
About the role:
- Immediate start
- Fixed term through to end of December, with genuine potential for ongoing full-time work depending on fit
- Full-time hours, calving season demands (early starts, flexibility around cow/calf welfare needs)
- Pay based on experience
What you'll be doing:
- Calving duties — assisting cows, calf rearing and feeding, calf health monitoring
- General dairy farm work as required (milking, animal health, farm maintenance)
- Working alongside our existing farm team
What we're looking for:
- Farming/dairy experience essential — all levels and backgrounds considered, just need hands-on experience
- Reliable, hardworking, and comfortable working early mornings and weekends during calving
- A full, valid driver's licence
- Ability to work well as part of a small team
Accommodation:
A three-bedroom home will be available later in the month (not available immediately from the start date) — details can be discussed at interview.
