We are looking for Herd Managers to join our team, with the opportunity to step into a 2IC
role and take on increasing managerial responsibility.
We milk 850 cows through a 54-bail rotary with ACRs. This is a hands-on role, but we are
looking for more than someone who can simply complete the day-to-day farm tasks. We want
someone with passion for farming, sound knowledge, initiative and ambition who can
become a genuine support to the Farm Manager and confidently take responsibility when
required.
The role involves understanding and taking responsibility for the daily running of the dairy,
effluent management and feeding. You will need to work effectively with minimal
supervision, supervise and train other staff, organise daily tasks and help ensure the farm runs
smoothly and efficiently.
You will be expected to identify opportunities to improve the way we work and contribute
ideas that benefit the wider farm business. You will need to keep accurate records, gather and
understand information that influences feeding decisions, and have a good understanding of
feed budgeting concepts.
Day-to-day duties will include milking, feeding stock, assisting with calves, tractor driving,
shifting irrigators, cowshed hygiene and other general farm duties.
We are particularly interested in someone who takes ownership, thinks ahead and wants to
develop their farming career.
The right person will have the organisational skills, knowledge and confidence to gradually take over managerial duties as 2IC and provide reliable support and leadership alongside the Farm Manager.
