Farm Machinery & General Farm Worker
Edendale, Southland
We are looking for a practical, reliable and motivated person to join our farming operation.
This is a varied role that would suit someone who enjoys working with machinery, has good mechanical ability and is happy to turn their hand to a wide range of jobs around the farm.
We winter all our cows and young stock on our runoffs and carry out our own groundwork, so there is plenty of opportunity for tractor and machinery work throughout the year.
We also use Halter technology to make stock management and wintering more efficient. This makes feeding out and shifting stock much easier, with no need to constantly get on and off machinery to move fences.
The role will involve:
● Operating tractors, diggers and other farm machinery
● Groundwork and cultivation
● General machinery servicing, maintenance and repairs
● Engineering, welding and fabrication work
● Fencing and general farm maintenance
● Spraying weeds and pasture maintenance
● Winter feeding and stock management on our runoffs
● Using Halter technology for stock movements, virtual fencing and day-to-day stock management
● General stock work and assisting with calf rearing when required
● A variety of other jobs that come up throughout the farming season
We’re looking for someone who:
● Is confident and capable operating farm machinery
● Has good mechanical knowledge and practical problem-solving skills
● Has experience with engineering, welding or general repairs
● Is confident using technology and comfortable learning and working with systems such as Halter
● Can work independently, use their initiative and manage their workload
● Takes pride in their work and looks after machinery and equipment
● Is reliable, organised and willing to help wherever needed
What we offer:
We are flexible with working hours and rosters. We’re more interested in finding someone who takes ownership of their work and gets the jobs done than sticking to a rigid roster.
You’ll have plenty of variety, the opportunity to work independently and a good range of machinery to operate.
Accommodation may be available for the right applicant.
Remuneration will be based on experience and ability.
