Job Description

Farm Operations Support

Support good people, keep farms running well, and be part of work that matters.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

We’re looking for a skilled and reliable Farm Operations Support person to provide practical support across our four Taranaki farms.

This role is ideal for someone with strong dairy farming capability who enjoys variety, can step in where needed, and takes pride in helping farms run well. You’ll work across different properties and teams, supporting day-to-day operations.

The role is primarily focused on farm operations and farm coverage. That includes milking, stock work, feeding, general farm tasks, machinery operation, maintenance support and helping maintain good routines and standards across the farms. From time to time, you may also assist with practical science-related farm activities, but this is first and foremost an operations support role.

We’re looking for someone practical, steady and adaptable. Someone who can work well with different people, follow through on tasks, and contribute positively wherever they are needed. This is a chance to join an organisation where the work done on farm supports both strong day-to-day farming and the future of dairy farming in New Zealand.

What we’re looking for:

  • Proven dairy farming experience, ideally at or above 2IC level
  • Strong practical skills across milking, stock handling, feeding and general farm work
  • The ability to adapt quickly across different farms, teams and daily priorities
  • Good problem-solving, organisation and time management skills
  • Confidence operating farm vehicles and machinery
  • A strong commitment to health and safety, animal welfare and good farm standards
  • Good communication skills and a team-focused attitude
  • A practical, hands-on approach with strong follow-through
  • Experience with tractor work, maintenance, herd testing or technical farm tasks would be an advantage
  • Experience working across multiple farms or supporting research or trial activity would also be an advantage

What’s in it for you:

  • A varied and hands-on role working across four farms
  • Exposure to different farming systems, technologies and practical approaches
  • The opportunity to work alongside industry leaders, researchers and high-performing farm teams
  • Ongoing training and development opportunities
  • Discretionary performance-based bonus
  • The chance to contribute to work that helps shape the future of New Zealand dairy farming

About us:

We are a non-profit, science-led dairy farming organisation operating four farms in Taranaki. Our work combines practical farming, research and demonstration, helping turn good ideas into real on-farm outcomes for the wider dairy sector.

We believe strong farming businesses are built on capable teams, clear systems, safe workplaces and an environment where people are supported to do their best work. Health and safety, wellbeing and respectful team culture are central to how we operate day to day.

Across our farms, we aim to create workplaces where people feel valued, well supported and part of something meaningful.
