We are looking for an experienced farm worker (2+ years) for a Herd Manager role on a 1500 cow farm in the Hororata area. The farm is located 45 minutes west of Christchurch, milking through a 60 Bail Rotary shed with ACR. You'll have a range of duties to keep you busy, interested and developing including: - Milking and monitoring milk quality, - stock handling and feeding (feed mgt), - fencing, weed control, - calving, calf rearing, - shed maintenance & preparation, - tractor operation for feeding out, baling, mowing and silage - monitoring, recording and maintaining animal health - and other general farm duties. Weekly hours are a minimum of 35 and a maximum of 55. Since farm work is dependent on a number of unknown factors like weather and animals, should you work beyond the agreed maximum hours in a fortnightly pay period, you will be paid the agreed overtime hourly rate for any hours beyond the maximum hours. We are seeking a motivated dairy farm assistant for our dairy farm in Waikuku.    The farm is family owned and has been farmed by the family for 120 years.  We are a winter milking farm at the peak milking 1200 and down to 950 over winter and over 3/4 of our herd are full pedigree Holstein Friesians.  We also make our own silage and hay. Located 30 mins from the centre of Christchurch City and 5 mins from Rangiora.  We have a 70 Bale Rotary Shed, In-shed feeding, Allflex Collars, ACR and Automatic Calf feeders and Pivots.   Class 2 License would be beneficial for Silage and carting stock.   Start date can be negotiated for the right candidate We offer a competitive salary package, comfortable 3 bedroom house with log burner. A good sense of humour and a great team ethic is a must. 2IC/Manager with at least 2 years experience , the successful applicant will need to know how to milk, set up shed, do the wash, feed out, fences, weed control, irrigation , organize a team of 3 or 4 workers and do any other jobs the share -milker requires.Roster 5 on 2 off.
