We are looking for an experienced farm worker (2+ years) for a Herd Manager role on a 1500 cow farm in the Hororata area. The farm is located 45 minutes west of Christchurch, milking through a 60 Bail Rotary shed with ACR.
You'll have a range of duties to keep you busy, interested and developing including:
- Milking and monitoring milk quality,
- stock handling and feeding (feed mgt),
- fencing, weed control,
- calving, calf rearing,
- shed maintenance & preparation,
- tractor operation for feeding out, baling, mowing and silage
- monitoring, recording and maintaining animal health
- and other general farm duties.
Weekly hours are a minimum of 35 and a maximum of 55. Since farm work is dependent on a number of unknown factors like weather and animals, should you work beyond the agreed maximum hours in a fortnightly pay period, you will be paid the agreed overtime hourly rate for any hours beyond the maximum hours.
The schedule may vary; Roster will be 6 days on, 1 day off during calving season. After calving, the worker and employer will determine either a triple roster of 7/2, 7/2, 7/3, or a double roster of 11/3 and 5/2.
Salary ranges between $75,400 - $85,400 per annum, depending on experience.
Candidates must have previous dairy farming experience and are required to provide good related references.
