We are seeking someone to fill a Herd Manager position on our 1200-cow farm 20 minutes inland from Ashburton. We currently milk 1200 cows through a modern 80 bale rotary off 345 ha, the farm has excellent irrigation, infrastructure, and machinery. We are looking for an enthusiastic person with initiative and drive who can work well on their own and as part of a team. This run-off property provides dairy support for two dairy farms. The manager is responsible for the day to day running of the property (in communication with the farm owner) and is required to manage the grazing and feeding of all dry stock, ensuring they meet target weights and condition. You will have a varied work load Managing - animal health, pasture and cropping management, staff management during winter, vehicle and equipment maintenance, general farm maintenance, record keeping, co-ordination/ communication with various people & businesses, as well as health and safety. We are seeking a motivated dairy farm assistant for our dairy farm in Waikuku.    The farm is family owned and has been farmed by the family for 120 years.  We are a winter milking farm at the peak milking 1200 and down to 950 over winter and over 3/4 of our herd are full pedigree Holstein Friesians.  We also make our own silage and hay.
