This is a new conversion dairy farm located near Geraldine. The farm is a dryland farm, with Halter in place for the dairy herd- which will also be used through winter. The role requires experience running a dryland dairy farming system, and preferably with the attitude to manage any hiccups that come with a new conversion. The contract milker will be supported by an independent consultant. The farm owner is on-farm, running an adjacent beef/ finishing operation. The contract milker will be responsible for all areas of dairy farm management, staff recruitment, animal welfare and feeding, fertiliser management etc.  Finances will be in conjunction with the owner. The contract milker will be working alongside the farm owner and drystock manager with all youngstock and most wintering kept in-house. This is a 65 ha ( eff) farm 2 km from the Tatua factory near Morrinsville. Last season's production was 102,000 Kg ms or 468 Kg ms/c and 1570 Kg ms/ha on 'sytem 3'.  The 2 year Average production from 230 cows is 97,185 Kg ms or 422 Kg ms/cow, and 1495 Kg ms/ha. We require a 50/50 sharemilker for our dairy farm in the Glenroy Valley, 30 minutes from Murchison (school, supermarket, service centre, medical centre etc).  There is an area school bus at the gate.  The dairy is a 40 bale rotary shed with ACR's and Protrack.  Halter would be a good option if the sharemilker would consider that (70/30 shared cost).  Summer crops and some baleage are grown on the dairy; and winter crops and silage on the runoff.  The runoff is managed by the sharemilker.  The R2yr heifers are usually grazed off outside the dairy/runoff from 1st June to 31st May (shared cost).  Calving date is the 10th of August.  The herd would be available for purchase at valuation.
