We have a position available for a Dairy Farm Assistant on a 1,500-cow farm in the Balfour area. The farm is located approximately 45 minutes from Gore and operates two Herringbone milking sheds. Previous experience is preferred but not required for this role. You'll have a range of duties to keep you busy, interested and developing including: - Milking twice a day - shifting cows and feeding  - fencing, weed control - calving, calf rearing - shed cleaning and setup - identifying and alerting managers to sick cows - Setting fences - and other general farm duties. Weekly hours are a minimum of 30 and a maximum of 50. Since farm work is dependent on a number of unknown factors like weather and animals, any hours worked beyond the agreed maximum in a fortnightly pay period will be paid at the agreed overtime rate.   The schedule may vary; During calving season in August, roster will be 6 days on, 1 day off then 12 days on, 2 days...

We are seeking a motivated hard working dairy assistant for a 750 cow dairy farm close to Balfour township. Assistant Farm Manager wanted to help run the daily operation of a 750 cow farm near Balfour, Southland. 310 hectare effective. A 60 bail rotary dairy shed for milking with in-shed feeding, auto drafting, auto cup remover with cow collar to aid with health monitoring and mating.  To be considered for the role you must have a strong background on all aspect of day to day running of the operation and a solid work ethics. You will be expected to lead a team of junior staff, monitor pasture and animal health with the basic farm and machinery maintenance and know how.  In return a competitive renumeration package with a 3 bedroom house with heat pump, good working gear and machinery is on offer.
