Peak milk 540 cows (increasing to 590 over next few years) we milk once a day all season and winter all our cows and have all our own young stock on run offs. We are on the lookout for a  Herd Manager to join our team. Due to 1 staff member moving away, we are looking for someone with at least 2 year of dairy farm experience. Start date will be 1st of November approx.. We milk 1000 cows through a 50 bail rotary with automatic cup removers, drafting and teat spray. Key tasks:  Herd Managers are responsible for key aspects of the working day, including running the dairy shed (ie milking) and may have responsibility for animal health and other assigned tasks. We milk 500 cows through a 36 rotary with cup removers, meal feeding, Datamars cow collars & protrack (this shed is currently being replaced with a 54 bale rotary). We are seeking a motivated assistant to join our farm team at Kowhai Downs. Kowhai Downs is in the Maruia district, made up of a 400ha dairy farm, peak milking 860 cross bred cows, as well as 250ha of adjacent support land running 200 R1 and R2 replacement heifers. The dairy platform is flat, predominantly dryland, but with a 100ha brand new centre pivot currently being installed. The support land has 150ha of flat/rolling land, and 100ha of hills. There are currently 6 full time staff, plus manager. The farm milks through a 60-bale rotary shed, running a Read plant, with automatic cup removers and teat spray, plus a Pro-Trak drafting gate and in-shed feeding. We are a100% autumn calving farm milking 450 cows through a 44 bale rotary. We are located in Pukeatua, between Putaruru and Te Awamutu. We have excellent facilities with the 44 bale rotary being a one person shed with inshed feeding, cup removers and auto teat spray. We have a covered 450 cow feedpad and up to date plant & machinery. We utilize cow manager ear tags to assist with mating and cow health. We are looking for a 2IC to work alongside the farm owner to help complete all daily tasks. We have an excellent roster of 4 on: 1 off then 7 on 2 off (equivalent to 11-3) and 6 on 1 off for 5/6 weeks over calving. We have a 4-bedroom house with garage available.
