Job Description

200 Cow Dairy Farm | Full-Time Position | Close to Hamilton

We are looking for a reliable, practical and motivated person to join our dairy farming operation in the Waikato, conveniently located close to Hamilton.

We milk approximately 200 cows and are looking for someone who is confident working independently and capable of taking sole charge of the farm on a regular basis.

This is a full-time position, and we are more interested in finding the right person with the right attitude than simply filling the role.

What the job involves

  • Milking and general day-to-day dairy farm operations.

  • Taking sole charge of the farm when required.

  • Feeding out silage and other supplementary feeds.

  • Moving stock and general animal husbandry.

  • Fencing, repairs and general farm maintenance.

  • Spraying and weed control.

  • Operating tractors and other farm machinery.

  • Helping maintain a tidy, safe and well-run farm.

Who we are looking for

Ideally, you will have previous dairy farming experience and be comfortable making day-to-day decisions without needing constant supervision.

We are looking for someone who:

  • Is honest, reliable and takes pride in their work.

  • Has good stockmanship and genuinely enjoys working with animals.

  • Can confidently work alone and use their initiative.

  • Is competent operating tractors and feeding out.

  • Has practical skills in fencing, spraying and farm maintenance.

  • Communicates well and has a positive, can-do attitude.

  • Treats the farm, animals and machinery as if they were their own.

What we offer

We are a family farming operation that values good people and believes in treating them well.

We offer a full-time position on an established dairy farm, with plenty of variety, responsibility and the opportunity to work independently.

We understand the importance of having a life outside farming and are happy to discuss working arrangements with the right applicant.

Above all, we are looking for someone we can trust, who enjoys farming and wants to be part of a good farming operation.

Experience is important, but attitude, honesty and reliability are just as important to us.

Remuneration will be discussed based on experience and ability.

If this sounds like you, we would really like to hear from you.
