🐄 2IC/ Farm Assistant – Jersey Farm (Okato, Taranaki)

We are seeking a motivated and reliable staff member to join our team as a 2ic or farm assistant on a progressive Jersey farm near Okato for the 2027/2028 season

This role suits someone who enjoys responsibility, takes pride in their work, and wants to be part of a high-performing farming operation. You may be an established 2ic, looking to take a step up or a step back

We milk 440 very quiet, well bred, high-producing Jersey cows through a 40 bale rotary, with a strong focus on animal welfare, efficiency, and good systems. We utilise Afi collars, automatic cup removers and teat sprayers to make the cowshed a 1 man operation year round.

✅ Key Responsibilities

• Assist with day-to-day farm operations

• Take sole charge of the cowshed when required

• Maintain high standards of milking, hygiene, and animal care

• Support the farm contract milker in achieving production targets

• General farm maintenance and teamwork

✅ About You

        You will have:

• A strong attention to detail

• Ability to learn to manage the cowshed independently and efficiently

• A good level of physical fitness

• Ability to follow instructions and farm systems

• Be a self-starter with initiative

• Health and safety awareness

• Pride in your work and animal welfare

• Eligible to work in NZ
