Top 400 cows twice a day, the rest once a day morning only, everything once a day March to end of May. We have a system that allows for not getting cows in, they walk themselves to milking while the coffees being drunk. Calves are grazed off farm from January till they return in May the following year as in calf. All ground work is done in house so plenty of tractor work available. We are looking for a permanent staff member to jump aboard our team once our Scottsman's visa has run out in November. Preferably chasing a character that knows how to jump into battle when the busy time is on. Must have a can do attitude and be willing to get their hands dirty, be able to laugh and have a genuine interest in dairy farming. 3 bedroom house with log burner. Firewood available on farm. We are seeking an Assistant Herd Manager with 6 months to 2 years of current New Zealand dairy farm experience to work on our 600-cow farm in South Hillend. The farm is located approximately 10 minutes from Winton and 40 minutes from Invercargill, milking through a 54-bale rotary shed equipped with ACRs, auto teat spray, and in-shed feed. Cows wintered off farm in June & July to Mossburn (30 minutes drive from the main farm, the employer will provide a vehicle for travelling), where we go every day to feed them.
