A rare and special opportunity has opened up on our beautiful 400Ha family owned and ran dairy farm that is located just 15 mins to Fairlie and 12 mins to Pleasant Point. There are great schools, shops, cafes and sports clubs etc in the area and we are only 45 mins from the hustle and bustle of Timaru. We think we are ideally situated to enjoy everything the South Island has to offer. We are a tad remote though, so you must enjoy the quiet life!
We milk our beautiful 1000 cows through a 40 aside Herringbone shed, it is not automated, but we have brand new irrigation pivots and are introducing Halter next year. 600 of our bonnie cows are milked twice a day and the remaining 400 lassies once a day. Our most important value is we strongly believe in a healthy work/life balance, so our staff only ever work a max of 45 hours a week, even over calving - but we do try to keep it closer to 40 hours a week. We are in full support of playing Winter sports as getting off farm to connect with others is energising and refreshing.
Considering ourselves to be excellent employers we are willing to train the right person. We would like you to have some experience under your belt, so you are aware of the demanding, yet amazing life dairy farming provides. However, if you are completely new to the industry, we will consider you providing you are serious about a career in dairy. We can teach you all about dairy farming, but you need to come with the attributes we can’t teach; so have a strong work ethic, a thirst to learn and grown, be a team player who is honest and reliable and most importantly … have initiative.
We offer a happy and safe work environment and find that our staff stay with us because of our strong values and the stunning part of South Canterbury we get to call home. You must be able to live happily on your own in our cozy single persons cottage and have at least a restricted licence.
