We are looking for a motivated and reliable 2IC / Herd Manager to join our team on a well-established 280-cow dairy farm, located just 15 minutes from Palmerston North.
This is a hands-on role working alongside the Operations Manager, Farm Assistant, and some casual staff. The farm is run in a structured and practical manner, so we’re looking for someone who can hit the ground running and confidently manage day-to-day farm tasks.
Cows are milked through an older 17-aside herringbone shed.
The role includes:
Milking and monitoring animal health
Calving and feeding out
Stock movements and pasture management
General farm maintenance (fencing, water systems, shed hygiene)
Tractor and vehicle work where required
Roster:
Week 1: 6 days on / 1 day off
Week 2: 5 days on / 2 days off
What we're looking for:
Minimum 3+ years dairy farming experience
Honest, reliable, and a good work ethic
Able to work independently and in a team
Physically fit and capable in all weather conditions
Full driver’s licence required
