Dairy Farm 2IC – Jersey Herd

We are looking for a practical and motivated Second-in-Charge (2IC) to work alongside the Contract Milker on our dairy farm milking 300 Jersey cows across 100 hectares of flat to steep country.
This role would suit someone who enjoys being hands-on, problem-solving, and helping improve systems over time
About the Role
Working closely with the Contract Milker, your responsibilities will include:
- Daily milking and shed routines
- Animal health, calving, and herd welfare
- Feed management and pasture allocation
- General farm maintenance, fencing and weed management
- Assisting with day-to-day decision making and taking responsibility when required
Farm Details
- 300 Jersey cows
- 100 hectares
- Flat to steep contour with plenty of character
- 10 minutes to Woodville, 30 mins to Palmerston North, 20 minutes to Dannevirke
What We’re Looking For
- Previous dairy farming experience (preferably 2 seasons worth of experience)
- Good stockmanship and work ethic
- Practical mindset and ability to adapt
- Reliable, honest, and able to work well with others
- NZ driver’s licence preferred
