With the exciting purchase of a neighboring farm, the family run Dreaming of Dairy team is on the hunt for new team members.  About the farm:  Frog Flat is located in marvelous Maruia, an approximate 2.5hr drive to Nelson, Christchurch & Greymouth, with Reefton & Murchison under an hour away. Surrounded by native bush it is a peaceful location right next to the state highway. The farm is 700ha with good infrastructure & a 60 bale rotary.  Milking 700 cows with good inshed feeding & use of a farm consultant.  About you:   A minimum of a restricted drivers license, two seasons experience, ability to operate 2 & 4 wheeler bikes, a can do attitude, love of cows & willingness to live rural should help you make the short list. We have a job available for an Assistant Farm Manager  with at least 2+ years' experience on a 1150-cow farm in the Whataroa area, milking through a 70 Bail Rotary shed. You'll have a range of duties to keep you busy, interested and developing including: Milking Shed Management Animal Husbandry and Production Animal Health Monitoring, Management and Treatment Pasture and fodder Management Maintenance of Shed, Equipment and Machinery Know and meet regulatory rules & requirements Breeding, Calving and Calf rearing Management Cattle transportation Contractor Organisation and Management Staff Management   and other general farm duties. Dairy Farm Assistant:  We are looking for a very keen, motivated person to assist us Milking 500 cows through 36 Bail Rotary Shed. We would prefer the person to have at least one years Dairy Farming experience in NZ. So able to milk cows unsupervised, have some experience with animal health & handling stock. Able to ride quad & two  wheel motor bike in a sound & safe manner. Comfortable 2 Bedroom house available. May need to share with backpacker during busy periods of season. We are approx. 20 mins to Lake Brunner, 50 mins to both Hokitika & Greymouth 

We are looking for a reliable and motivated Calving Season Assistant to join our dairy farm team from 1st August until mid-October , with the possibility of longer work if needed. This is a short-term seasonal role during our busy calving period and would suit someone who has an interest in dairy farming and is willing to learn. The role will involve: Picking up and caring for calves Feeding calves General farm work Helping with other day-to-day farm jobs as required Experience in dairy farming would be an advantage, but it is not essential. We are happy to hear from someone with a great attitude who is reliable, a quick learner, physically fit, and able to follow instructions. Good English communication skills are important.
