2ic required to help with the day to day running of our 600 cow dairy farm . 50 bale rotary with ACR in shed feeding system. . Must be confident at riding both 2 & 4 wheeler motorbike. We are seeking a motivated and reliable Farm Assistant to join our dairy farming operation. This role involves assisting with all aspects of the day-to-day running of the farm, including milking, animal health, feeding, pasture management, fencing, calf rearing, and general farm maintenance. The successful applicant will work closely with the Farm Manager and wider team to ensure high standards of animal welfare, milk quality, farm presentation, and health and safety are maintained. Working with our team of 4 we will be milking, setting breaks and monitoring residuals, helping with/managing mating, tractor driving, animal health and farm maintenance. We milk 750 cows through our highly automated 40 aside herringbone shed. Our farm is fully irrigated with Pivots, Fixed Grid and some K line. We are looking for a good Herd Manager to join our team in Tarras Central Otago. We are in our first season on a brand new 1,500 cow conversion, milking through a new 80 bail Waikato rotary. The shed has Protrack, in-shed feeding, cow collars, Auto Smart Wash and really good cow flow. The farm is 500ha, fully irrigated with 8 centre pivots and fixed grid on the corners. It is split into 3 main blocks, with a herd based on each block. This is not a role where you are just helping run the farm. You will be responsible for your own herd and will have a big part to play in pasture management, animal health, mating and the day-to-day running and performance of that herd.
