The Assistant Farm Manager is responsible for the day to day operation of the farm which is a milking platform with young stock grazed off after weaning. General responsibility for maintaining stock and farm records.  This is an easy contour farm with 28 aside herringbone shed, in shed feeding. Aiming to calve about 150 cows in the spring with 80-100 autumn calving for the winter. The property is close to Tokoroa with several school choices. Accommodation tidy four bedroom house. No dogs.  We do pre-employment drug testing. The Farm Manager must have more than 3 years NZ experience and have a consistent work history in dairying. They also need to demonstrate good communication and practical dairy farming skills. We encourage involvement in our local community.

Farm is mainly flat with some steeper paddocks by cowshed.  Roster can be discussed, and can be very flexible, we are thinking 7 on 3 off. work load is not massive and salary will reflect that. Weekend work is only Essential jobs.   duties will include, but not limited to- *Milking twice a day. 6am / 2:30pm.  *break fences *feeding out in paddocks ( Mostly flat )  *Shifting traveling irrigator Must be confident on 2 wheeler, and capable of working alone when required so experience is a MUST. 

We are looking for a dedicated Farm assistant/Herd Manager. Close to town. we have 560 cows on 212ha, milking through a 40aside herringbone cowshed located close to Tokoroa. We are all a hardworking team who are fully aware of their roles & responsibilities on a daily basis. Key tasks and responsibilities: Milking cows, setting up break fences, identifying and treating mastitis, tractor driving - ability to feed out, calving cows - feeding calves - identify cows in heat - H&S compliance - Recording of animal health details - general farm maintenance.
