We are requiring another staff member to join our team as we head into the 2026/27 season. This position could be a good fit for someone who is currently working as a Farm Assistant and wanting to step up to the next level. You will need to have a minimum of 2.5 years of NZ dairy experience, preferably on a mid- to large-herd-size dairy farm.  We are situated halfway between Methven and Ashburton.  The farm is fully irrigated and has a 54 bail rotary.  The job will include: Getting cows in and milking them. Setting up break fences Detecting and treating lame, sick and mastitis cows and recording treatments Assist with calving cows Great stock handling skills and be able to work with young stock Have great shed hygiene and general farm tidines Basic pasture management & willing to learn more Shifting sprinklers Be confident on 2 and 4 wheel motorbikes Basic shed and farm maintenance Some tractor driving ability, more training will be given. Job will Involve. we have 480 cows to calved end of July to October 2026 + Rearing approximately 120 heifer calves/45 beef calves and 10 bulls + Feeding bobby calves until 4 days old  + Tube feeding if newborn calves are not drinking from the feeding bottle  + Training calves for the feeders  + Identify any calves not drinking milk and feeding them  + Report any problem of calves and machinery  + Help for milking when staff has day off 

 BLACKFORD FARMING -RED SHED. Due to a staff member moving overseas , an exciting opportunity has become available on our dairy farm, milking 1035 cows through a 60 bale fully automated rotary shed. Our non irrigated farm has modern facilities, machinery and equipment. We have a wintering barn to house 270 cows  , Halter collars and automatic calf feeders.  The successful candidate will join our vibrant team of 5 full time staff and work on a 6 on 2 off roster. 2 years Previous experience on a NZ dairy farm is essential, You must have a can do attitude and you must be honest and reliable , work well in a team but also work well alone and be a good communicator. We are a drug free and smoke free workplace. Drug testing may be required. A full NZ driving licence is required. Permanent - Full Time   Our beautiful 160Ha farm is located on flat land and just a 5 mins drive to Methven town centre, where there are excellent schools, cafes and supermarkets etc and with Mt Hutt right on our doorstep if you enjoy winter sports.   Milking our beautiful 630 cows through a 60-bail rotary with ACR and auto drafting, we will expect you to have strong production experience and you must also be at the top of your game when it comes to shed hygiene and animal health and wellbeing, as well as being a capable tractor driver, so a minimum of 2 to 3 years’ experience here in NZ is essential.   Offering a good healthy work life balance, we work on a 6/2 roster all year round and we have a lovely modern 2-bedroom home located on farm, we are offering a salary of between $30 to $35 per hour including $250 per week for accommodation.    We offer a minimum of 30 hours per week.   In return we will expect you to be able to hit the ground the running...
