We have a job for a Dairy Farm Assistant requiring at least 6+ months of dairy farm experience. This is for a 620-cow farm in the Ashburton area, milking through a 60 Bail Rotary shed. You'll have a range of duties to keep you busy, interested and developing including: - Milking twice a day - shifting cows and feeding  - fencing, weed control - calving, calf rearing - shed cleaning and setup - identifying and alerting managers to sick cows - Setting fences - and other general farm duties. Weekly hours are a minimum of 30, with an average of 40 and a maximum of 45. Since farm work is dependent on a number of unknown factors like weather and animals, any hours worked beyond the agreed maximum in a fortnightly pay period will be paid   at the agreed overtime rate.   The schedule may vary; Roster will be 6 days on, 2 days off throughout the year. We are looking for a calf rearer to come and join our team of 3. This role will have sole charge of rearing 150 heifer replacements, training is provided. There would also be the option to help with milking in the mornings.  We milk 610 cows through a 54-bale rotary with protrack with smaXtec animal monitoring. The roster is 6 days on and 2 days off, this could be negotiable. Position is from mid-late July through to mid-late September. A fully furnished one bedroom cottage is available on the farm.  Pay based on experience.  Please not the job is only for 8-10 weeks and applicant must have a visa to be able to work in New Zealand.
