One of our team is continuing with their travels after 18 months with us, so we are looking for someone to step into our team at a Farm Assistant level. Ideally this is a permanent position, but we’re also open to a fixed-term role — for us, finding the right fit for our team matters more than anything.  The Farm: We milk 700 cows through a rotary shed with cup removers, drafting and datamars tags, and feed at a System 4. Milking is twice a day from calving through to mid–late January, then we move to 10 in 7. Calves are fed on an ad lib system and are reared within the team, and we manage our own wintering on neighbouring land. We are looking for someone to join our team in the next few weeks Our farm has been running with 3 full time staff with support from relief staff but as we move into the next chapter in our farming operations we believe we have room for a herd manager to come on board.  Our farm is located 10 minutes from Ashburton township. Split over two blocks we run at peak 700 mainly freisan cross bred cows. As a mostly self contained unit we tend to our young stock throughout the year and winter our own cows. Our cows are at the heart of our operation. Our successful applicant must have a genuine love for these animals. We run a 6 and 2 roster over calving and are looking to move to a 6 and 2, 6 and 3 roster after calving. A bit about our farm 40 a side herringbone shed, with in shed feeding.
