Right now, NZ is in the thick of calving – and we won't sugar-coat it, it's very, very busy on our family farm!  We need someone who can start immediately and can 'handle the jandal' of long hours and get stuck in until things ease up in late September. That said, we've held firm to our brilliant 6/3 roster even through the madness of calving, because work-life balance matters to us, busy season or not! Once calving calms down, our cows get milked twice a day – but our humans only milk once a day! That's the trade-off:  we know it's full-on right now, so to help fuel our team through it, we put on a month of hot cooked breakfasts, plus you'll get at least an hour's break for lunch every day. On farm staff is the Contract Milker (+wife occasionally helping out), 2IC, and this farm assistant role. We are looking for someone experienced and capable of all tasks on farm and will be paid according to experience.  The successful applicant must have a minimum of 2 seasons experience on a New Zealand based dairy farm. Seeking a experienced, honest and reliable Relief Milker, that has excellent stock skills and management.   You must pass criminal and drug checks and be physically fit to be considered for the role. You must also have a full clean driving license and willing to work in a fast-paced environment. As a Relief Milker you are expected to work alongside the Farm Manager and other staff in: - milk harvesting - maintaining the cleanliness of the cow shed - operating and maintenance of effluent system - monitoring pasture, crop, and supplement management - monitoring stock feed - diagnosing animal ailments and conducting treatments - assisting in the erection and maintenance of fence.
