We are looking for our next superstar to join our team due to a staff member having to finish up mid season for personal circumstances, you will work alongside the contract milker and 2ic milking 600 cows through our 27 aside twin pit herringbone shed with protrack and cow manager tags.1 to 2 years experience is preferred but training can be provided if you have the right attitude and willingness to learn. We are a 245ha family run self contained dairy operation located south of Edendale. We milk 500 cows through a 36 rotary with cup removers, meal feeding, Datamars cow collars & protrack (this shed is currently being replaced with a 54 bale rotary). Our cows are wintered in a Redpath barn and we rear/graze our own replacement heifers along with 80-100 beef cattle. You will be part of the wider team alongside the farm owner & manager. We are looking for someone who is; motivated & self driven a good communicator a team player who will contribute to a positive working environment. This is a hands on role covering all aspects of day to day dairy farming. We require an honest reliable farm assistant to join our team in Southland. Previous experience preferred. Duties include but not limited to Milking: Assists with efficient and hygienic milking routine Animals: Assists in safe handling of animals, records, reports and treat, any health issue   Feed: Controls weeds. Sets break fences and feeds out as directed. Environment: Assists with nutrients, effluent and water management People: Works well with others, building a strong team culture Machinery Vehicles and Technology: Safely uses and maintains plant and farm vehicles. Pay rate is $26 - $28 per hour. Minimum of 30 hours per week guaranteed. Applicants must have a criminal free record and current drivers licence.
