🐄 WE’RE HIRING – FARM ASSISTANT / HERD MANAGER 🐄
📍 Gore, Southland – 15 minutes from town
We’re looking for a reliable, motivated and experienced person to join our team on our 700-cow dairy farm, just 15 minutes from Gore.
The position could suit an experienced Farm Assistant or Herd Manager, with responsibilities and remuneration depending on experience and ability.
🚜 About the farm:
- 700-cow dairy operation
- Modern 54-bail rotary shed with plenty of technology
- Protrack and SenseHub collars
- Centre pivots and rotarainers
- Three-bedroom house available on farm
🐄 The role includes:
- Milking and maintaining high milk quality standards
- Animal health and general stock management
- Calving and mating
- Tractor work, including feeding out and mowing
- General day-to-day farm operations
- Taking responsibility and helping ensure the farm runs smoothly
✅ We’re looking for someone who:
- Has solid dairy farming experience
- Is confident handling stock and identifying animal health issues
- Is capable and competent operating tractors and farm machinery
- Takes pride in their work and has good attention to detail
- Can work independently, show initiative and take responsibility
- Communicates well and works as part of a team
- Has a positive attitude, is reliable and genuinely enjoys dairy farming
Experience with Protrack, SenseHub and irrigation systems would be an advantage but isn’t essential.
