We are on the lookout for a farm assistant to join our team. Due to 1 staff member moving away, we are looking for someone with at least 6 months dairy farm experience. Start date will be as soon as possible. We milk 1000 cows through a 50 bail rotary with automatic cup removers, drafting and teat spray. Key tasks:  Bringing cows in for milking, milking and teat spraying. Cleaning the milking shed, yards and equipment. Feeding stock, setting up break fences and checking water supplies. Monitoring animal health, reporting concerns and assisting with treatment as directed. Helping with calving, calf rearing and mating as required. Assisting with effluent management. We are seeking an Assistant Herd Manager with at least 2 years of current New Zealand dairy farm experience to work on our 600-cow farm in South Hillend. The farm is located approximately 10 minutes from Winton and 40 minutes from Invercargill, milking through a 54-bale rotary shed equipped with ACRs, auto teat spray, and in-shed feed. Cows wintered off farm in June & July to Mossburn (30 minutes drive from the main farm, the employer will provide a vehicle for travelling), where we go every day to feed them. System 2 farm with good infrastructure for the smooth running of the business. Ideally looking for a hardworking and motivated couple. Would consider a capable single individual and would continue to look to fill the second position- milking/general farm work. Minimum of 2 years dairy experience in New Zealand. Must be in NZ currently and able to attend an interview in person. Ideally capable tractor/machine operator.  11:3 roster.
