An opportunity is available for a motivated and experienced contractor to assist with a range of farming operations across our beef and dairy farms in the Stratford area.
The role offers variety, with duties covering general farm maintenance, tractor and machinery operation, animal husbandry and transport.
Key duties and experience required:
We are looking for someone with competent skills and experience in the following areas:
Farm repairs and maintenance
- Fencing repairs and maintenance
- Maintenance of farm tracks, buildings and infrastructure
- Repairs and maintenance of farm machinery and equipment
- Water line and pump maintenance and repairs
- Tractor servicing and general mechanical maintenance
Tractor operation
- Weed spraying
- Fertiliser spreading
- Teddering and rolling
Animal husbandry – Beef Farms
- Shifting and handling stock
- Feeding out
- Weighing and drenching stock
- General animal health and husbandry
- Beef calf rearing
Truck/trailer and machinery operation
- Carting livestock
- Transporting hay and silage
- Carting fertiliser and PKE
- Digger and bulldozer operation
A current heavy traffic licence is not essential but would be an advantage.
The successful applicant will have:
- Drive, initiative and a positive can-do attitude
- Honesty and reliability
- The ability to work independently and take responsibility for getting the job done
- Strong verbal communication skills and the ability to liaise effectively with the farm owner
- Good knowledge of health and safety requirements, with safe working practices in place
- Relevant farming experience and practical skills across the duties outlined above
