Milking Operator – Fixed Term (Multi-Unit Dairy)

Skilled Milking Operator wanted — fixed term to end of season, house and work car included.

We're a multi-unit dairy operation based in Riversdale/Balfour looking for a reliable, experienced milker to join our team for the rest of the season. If you take pride in good cow handling and clean, efficient milkings, and you're happy to move between sheds as the roster needs, we'd like to hear from you.

The role

You'll be milking across several units on a rotating roster, covering different days and milking times as required. Flexibility is the key to this job.

• Milking cows to a high standard, morning and afternoon, across multiple sheds
• Moving between units as the roster and farm needs change
• Following milk quality, animal health and food safety procedures
• Teat spraying, cup handling and identifying cows needing attention (mastitis, lame, on heat)
• Shed and yard wash-down and keeping the dairy clean and tidy
• Bringing in and returning herds safely
• Following farm health and safety rules at all times
• Other on farm work available if desired. 

About you

• Proven experience milking in a commercial dairy (rotary and/or herringbone)
• Confident, calm stock handling and a good eye for animal health
• Flexible and happy to work varied days, times and units
• Reliable, punctual and able to work on your own or as part of a team
• Full driver's licence
• NZ citizen, resident or holder of a valid work visa

Experience across different shed types, or a Primary ITO / Te Pūkenga dairy qualification, will be an advantage.
