This position is available to start early December. We are looking for an Assistant Manager (2IC) to join our team on our 690-cow dairy farm.
We have a 42-bail ASHB cowshed with cup removers, halter collars, automatic teat spray, grain feeding, pivot irrigation, lateral sprinklers, and a RotoRainer. We have a great team to work alongside and currently run a 6-on/2-off roster, except August which is 6-on/1-off.
The right applicant will have solid knowledge of New Zealand dairy farming systems and a high level of understanding in pasture management, calving, animal health, mating selection, and irrigation. You must be a strong team player and comfortable operating and managing the cowshed, monitoring SCC, identifying and treating sick/mastitis cows, carrying out treatment regimes, assisting with pasture management, and milking unassisted.
There is opportunity to progress on farm. A minimum of 3 years’ New Zealand dairy farming experience and strong references are required. You must be able to pass a pre-employment drug test and remain drug-free, as we conduct random drug testing.
