Palmerston North -based employer requiring a full-time Dairy Farm Assistant to work with a herd of 580 cows on a 240ha dairy farm. We are progressive in our farming practices. The farm has modern machinery and facilities. We are milking 50 bail rotory shed. Have at least 2 years of dairy farming experience. Be hard-working, physically fit, honest and reliable at work, willing to learn, able to pass a pre-employment drug test, and have a full driver's licence. Roster will be on a 12 on / 2 off roster. 45 hr per week. Accommodation is available on-farm:
Duties include, but are not limited to:
• Perform efficient daily milking process and maintain high standards of plant and vat hygiene.
• Carry out routine weed control measures across the property.
• Monitor and move effluent irrigator in accordance with environmental and farm protocols.
• Set up and shift break fence according to pasture management plan.
• Assist operational support throughout the mating program.
• Able to Identify Mastitis and any other health issues of the herd and record.
• Assist in managing repairs and maintenance schedules for all plant, machinery and infrastructure.
• Assist during calving period, including physical handling and lifting of calves.
• Assist with feeding calves.
• Able to safely drive and maintain 2W and 4W bikes.
• Assist with general farm repairs, fencing, and farm infrastructure upkeep.
