We are looking for a Senior Farm Assistant to join our farm in Hawera, South Taranaki. Conveniently located less than a 10 minute drive from the Hawera township, this Farm Assistant role presents an opportunity to develop your skill set on a medium input farm milking 1000 cows.
Working in a team of four on an 8 on 2 off roster, with an average expected working week of 45 hours. The 320 hectare property is essentially flat with great infrastructure - 60 bale rotary with modern technologies that allow it be a one person shed, feed pad and cow collars.
Ideal candidates for this role will preferably have a minimum of two seasons experience and have a passion for the dairy industry. A focus on continual improvement and the ability to work independently as well as in a team environment will be attributes we will look for, along with stock empathy, commitment to the role and the ability to be relied upon.
You’ll need to be someone who is competent on large machinery, can manage your own jobs and time during the day, is confident making decisions and solving problems.
The senior farm assistant can expect to be responsible for the following; • Animal health management • Feeding of stock and pasture assessment • Assisting with calving and mating periods • Recording and reporting of herd information • Milking and shed hygiene • Farm and machinery maintenance •
