Permanent - Part time Assistant Manager (2IC)

Job Description

We are seeking a 2IC to join our team in Gordonton.

You must be experienced in all aspects of dairy farming and have the capability of managing the farm and the team when the manager is absent, and be an active participation in managing the farm as part of the greater management team.

The farm is 307ha milking platform, flat contour, with a 50 bale rotary with no ACR. We are a system 3 farm. The team consists of 5 full time on-farm staff, the manager, and a dedicated calf rearer. 2 runoffs, both 5 mins away, supplement the dairy platform and graze the young stock.

Skills Required:

Excellent pasture management and animal husbandry skills
Ability to detect and treat common health concerns
Ability to manage yourself and others
Ability to manage all aspects of the farm in the managers absence
Good communication with all members of the team.
Good time management - Be reliable and available, putting the cows first.
Have a positive, ‘can do’ attitude
Be a conscientious team player
Ag ITO levels 3 or above and an interest in higher Agri qualifications and progressing within the industry.
Tech savvy with using multiple farm apps including Resolution, Minda and SenceHub.
3+ years in a similar role, with larger herds a must.
