Dairy Farm Assistant / Milker – Taipuha, Northland
About the Role
We are seeking a reliable, community-minded Dairy Farm Assistant to join our team on a great property in Taipuha. This position offers an exceptional work-life balance with a stable 30 to 35 hours per week and a structured roster ensuring regular, predictable days off so you can plan your life outside the farm.
We milk 260 cows at peak this season on a system that utilizes Halter smart collars. The role is focused primarily on milking operations, with a schedule that changes to match the natural flow of the season:
- Now until Christmas: Milking twice a day (TAD).
- After Christmas: Moving to a relaxed once-a-day (OAD) milking schedule, freeing up your afternoons.
Key Responsibilities
- Consistent, efficient, and hygienic milking.
- Gentle animal handling and identifying basic stock health issues.
- Utilizing the Halter system app for basic herd movement and monitoring.
- Maintaining excellent dairy shed hygiene and daily washdown procedures.
About You
- Ideal for a family or an older couple, though we are very open-minded and all applicants will be considered.
- Previous experience milking cows is highly preferred, but a great attitude, reliability, and a genuine love for animals matter most.
- Punctual, dependable, and comfortable with early morning starts.
- Must have a valid driver’s licence and reliable transport.
- Full legal entitlement to work in New Zealand is required.

- The House: A quality on-farm home is provided as part of the employment package, valued at $500 per week.
- The Section & Pets: The house features a great yard section that is fenced, and we are currently adding a gate to make it fully secure. Pets will be considered strictly on a case-by-case basis, as we take great pride in keeping the house well-maintained. Please note we have a large, friendly dog on the farm already, so any visiting pets must be social and livestock-safe.
