Dairy Farm Assistant or Herd Manager- Permanent Full-Time

We are looking for a reliable, motivated Dairy Farm Assistant or Herd manager to join our team on a well-run, high-input dairy farm.

We are advertising the position this time of the year to spread the workload across the team and give our current staff a few less hours during the day, while still continuing to maintain a high standard across the farm. 

About The Farm

• 850- cow dairy farm
• milking twice a day through a 54-bail rotary shed
• In-Shed feed 
• High-input farming system
• Fully equipped with farm machinery and gear 
• Tidy, well-maintained farm and facilities 
• Working alongside a team of 4 other staff 

About The Role

This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys working as part of a team and wants to be involved in all aspects of a modern dairy farming operation 

We are looking for someone who is:

• Reliable and hard working
• Has a good attitude and strong work ethic
• comfortable working as part of a team
• Takes pride in their work and farm standards
• Has a genuine interest in dairy farming
• A minimum of 2 years  previous dairy farming experience is essential 

About Galatea

The farm is located in Galatea, a small, friendly rural community surrounded by farmland and beautiful countryside. 

Galatea offers a genuine rural lifestyle, while still being within reasonable driving distance of both Whakatane and Rotorua. 

Roster

8 days on / 2 days off, followed by 9 days on / 2 days off

This roster provides a good balance between working hard during the season, and having regular time off, which includes every third weekend off. 

This is a permanent full time position, with an immediate start available with renumeration subject to experience
