Tractor Driver & Farm Assistant

Must have a current NZ work visa or be able to meet the criteria to apply for a work visa

The position is for a dairy farm machine operator.  Your role will mostly involve dairy farm tractor work, occasionally assisting with livestock handling and milking duties. Tractor-related  tasks include:

  • Pasture spraying
  • Fertiliser spreading
  • Feeding out (mixer wagon)
  • Cultivation - discs + power harrow
  • Undersowing
  • Track maintenance
  • Pasture topping/mowing
  • Silage bale handling 
  • Digger work (prefered but not essential)

 Key duties:

  • Operating tractors and other farm machinery safely and efficiently.
  • Carrying out feeding work, including transporting and distributing silage, hay, supplements and other feed.
  • Assisting with pasture management, mowing, topping, cultivation, fertiliser spreading and other tractor-related farm work.
  • Loading, transporting and moving farm materials, feed, equipment and supplies.
  • Assisting with general dairy farm duties, including milking and handling livestock when required.
  • Assisting with fencing, water systems, drainage, tracks, yards and general farm infrastructure maintenance.
  • Carrying out basic checks and maintenance on tractors, vehicles, machinery and farm equipment, including oil, coolant, tyres, greasing and cleaning.
  • Identifying and reporting machinery faults, damage, livestock concerns or farm maintenance issues.
  • Assisting with effluent management and general farm cleaning as required.
  • Keeping tractors, machinery, workshops and work areas clean and tidy.
  • Following all farm health and safety procedures and operating machinery in a safe and responsible manner.
  • Carrying out other reasonable dairy farm and general maintenance duties as directed by the employer.

  • Tractor and farm machinery operating experience.
  • Basic mechanical and maintenance skills.
  • Livestock handling experience.
  • Good communication and teamwork.
  • Reliable, physically fit and safety-conscious.
  • Able to work independently and follow instructions.
