3-bedroom House is be available and is on farm - 13km/13mins from Waimate, South Canterbury. Applicant preferably someone who has done 2yrs of dairy farming and is motivated to learn, and feed cows.
Farm details: The dairy platform is approx.420ha effective, located 13km/13mins from the township of Waimate. Current Peak milk 940-980cows through 54 bale rotary, with halter collars, with slight increase likely and in-shed feeding & pro-track like gate
Irrigation: dryland farm.
Cows will be milked twice daily for majority of season– 4/4.30am & 2pm cups on.
Typical breaks post calving of 8.30-9.30am, 11.30-2pm. Winter; 8-12, 1.30-4.30
Roster current 6/2 in calving can change with rotary shed.
Salary, to be negotiated / based on experience.
Benefits firewood (we will split in winter) and some meat will be provided throughout the season. Opportunity to work in wider fully self-contained family dairy business, and manage a large scale farm when manager is away.
The team: 3 full time staff + 2 backpackers currrently (calves/milking etc)
About you:
1. You will need to be honest and respectful to other staff, stock and machinery.
2. You will ideally be proficient in the Dairy shed, having experience in milking and treating sick and lame cows - including reading a treatment board.
3. You will need to be able to shift & set break fences via gps, feed out via tractor and bale feeder, and at times work unsupervised.
4. You must be able to work in New Zealand legally to apply for this role.
5. You will be able to come to an on- farm interview.
