Experienced Tractor Driver Needed in Invercargill (REC-TD-KH)

Job Description

We are looking for an experienced and reliable Tractor Driver to join our client's team in Invercargill. This is an active role across a large, busy multi-farm operation spanning 5 connected farms.

Position Type: Fixed-Term (September 2026 – April 2027), with the opportunity to transition into a permanent role for the right candidate.

Your role will include - but not be limited to - the following duties:

 Operating Tractors and Other Machinery

  • Operating tractors as needed, including: Drilling, Cultivating, Bailing, raking and Mowing
  • Assisting with silage, hay and baling
  • Paddock work  

Machine Operation and Maintenance

  • Operating machinery including motorbikes and ATVs confidently and safely in accordance with health & safety guidelines
  • Assisting to keep them clean and operational (including ensuring they have petrol after use)
  • Machinery maintenance 

Team & Workplace

  • Communicating and working well with co-workers and managers so as to help ensure a safe and productive environment
  • Understanding farm regulatory responsibilities
  • Understanding agrichemicals (storage, handling, mixing)
  • Reporting any potential hazards, misses and near misses

Weekly hours are a minimum of 40 and an average of 60 but there may be a need for concentrated work which will be a maximum of 80 hours per week, depending on a number of unknown factors like weather.

The schedule may vary; Roster will be 12 days on 2 days off.

Wage is $40.00 per hour. 

Candidates must have previous machine operating experience and are required to provide good related references.

To be considered you must:

  • provide a CV which is current, correct and complete or alternative evidence of work (this is proof of work and professionalism and the employer will not consider you without this)
  • be a solid worker and with good character (where possible, we will do a criminal check)
  • be physically fit
  • be able to pass a pre-employment drug test
  • have a full driver licence
