We have a job for a dairy farm assistant who will ideally have 6+ months’ dairy farm experience.  This is for a 640 cow farm in the Howard area, 1 hr and 20 minutes from Nelson, milking through an 50 Bail Rotary shed. You'll have a range of duties to keep you busy, interested and developing including: Milking twice a day shifting cows and feeding  fencing, weed control calving, calf rearing, shed cleaning and setup, identifying and alerting managers to sick cows Setting fences and other general farm duties Weekly hours are a minimum of 35 and a maximum of 45. Since farm work is dependent on a number of unknown factors like weather and animals, should you work beyond the agreed maximum hours in a fortnightly pay period. The schedule may vary but generally work hours are between 4.30am and go through 5:30pm with meal and rest breaks.  Roster will be 10 days on, 4 days off, which may vary over calving.
