Plantation Dairies is a high-performing dairy operation milking up to 1,800 cows through a modern 60-bale rotary, supported by a skilled team, quality infrastructure, and well-maintained equipment.
We are looking for a Tractor Driver to join our Plantation Dairy team. Reporting to the Machinery & Farm Operations Lead, this role is ideal for someone who enjoys operating machinery, takes pride in their work, and wants to be part of a professional dairy farming operation.
About the Role
This is a varied, hands-on role supporting the day-to-day operation of the farm. You'll work across feeding, irrigation, pasture management, and general machinery operations, helping ensure the farm runs efficiently and to a high standard.
Key Responsibilities
• Operating tractors and mixer wagons to feed stock.
• Moving and managing K-Line irrigation systems.
• Operating effluent irrigators and supporting effluent management.
• Cleaning and maintaining farm raceways.
• Operating mowers, tip trailers, and other farm machinery.
• General machinery and infrastructure support.
• Assisting with seasonal farm operations as required.
• Maintaining equipment to a high standard.
• Following all health and safety procedures.
About You
• Previous experience operating tractors and agricultural machinery.
• Some dairy farming experience is essential.
• A positive attitude and strong work ethic.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Good communication skills.
• Pride in maintaining machinery and work areas.
• Reliable and willing to get stuck in.
• Full driver's licence preferred.
• Able to pass a pre-employment drug test.

Our Plantation Dairy site is based in Ongaonga, Hawkes Bay. We have 1900 cows, a 60 bale rotary, twice a year calving ('Spring': July-Oct/Nov and 'Autumn': January-April) and all-year milking. We are busy! And to help us get things done we have a great team of 13+ people onsite as well as support from the wider Apatu Farms team.
