Herd Manager Position available

We require a competent Herd Manager with several years experience that is willing to work, learn and engage in the day to day running of the farm.

In the shed:

  • You will be required to milk twice a day.
  • Always be on time.
  • Be calm with all stock and show a good level animal awareness.
  • Diagnose fix or report problems with the milking plant.
  • Follow milking procedures to ensure quality milk is supplied.
  • Diagnose health issue in the herd. Administer Treatments and record correctly.
  • Treat lame cows.
  • Ensure in shed feed systems are working correctly on a daily basis.
  • Have a desire to work in a clean and tidy environment,

On the Farm:

  • You must be confident with machinery. eg motor bikes 2 and 4 wheelers, tractors and irrigators.
  • Knowledge of irrigation systems is a bonus but can be taught.
  • Have knowledge of pasture covers pre grazing and residuals.
  • We use Halter for virtual fencing, Cow movements and grazing/feed plans. So must be willing to learn new technology. And be engaged in what is happening day to day on farm.
  • Desire to keep the farm tidy.
