We have a well-paid 3-7 month contract starting ASAP for a Calf Rearer couple (one doing calf rearing; one doing general farm work) based in the Oamaru area.
Would be great if you have previous calf rearing experience! This role is on 650 and 550-cow farm, milking through both 40 AS Herringbone and 50 Bail Rotary sheds.
Responsibilities include:
- Calf rearing, including feeding and caring for calves
- Identifying and alerting managers to sick cows
- Performing other general farm duties
- Milking after calving season
Ideal candidates will have:
- Previous dairy farming experience (preferred)
- A good attitude, initiative, and a strong work ethic (mandatory)
- Some experience in dairy farming, large animal care, or agriculture/viticulture/horticulture
- Motorbike and quad driving skills (mandatory for some jobs, not all)
- Good English communication skills
- A valid driver’s license (international licenses good) and your own vehicle
- The ability to work outside under various conditions
Package includes:
- Wage between $25.00 - $28.00 per hour, depending on experience with 8% holiday pay
- Minimum of 30 hours and an average of 40 hours per week
