Job Description

MILK HARVESTER

POSITION SPECIFICS:

  • Fixed Term.
  • Drive-in Position.
  • $30/hr
  • 30 hours per week (Average)

ROSTER

3 days on (fri, sat, sun), 1 day off (mon), 2 days on (tue, wed), 1 day off (thurs)

MILKING SPECIFICS

  • Milking is twice daily; morning milking is 5.00 am - 7:30 am, afternoon milking is 3:00 pm - 5:00 pm.
  • Peak milking herd of 470 jersey cows.
  • 40 aside herringbone shed.
  • Automatic cup removers.
  • Automatic Teat Spray.
  • Automatic drafting.

FARM SPECIFICS

  • Located in Milton, Otago.
  • 186 hectares.

About Kilkenny

Kilkenny is a small, family-owned and run dairy operation; located 15 minutes south of Milton, Otago. The stock are wintered on farm or at the adjacent run off block, both of which have a rolling terrain with steep gullies.

The milking herd consists of 420-450 jersey cows which are milked through a herringbone shed. The dairy shed is equipped with an in-shed feed system, an automatic teat sprayer, cup removers, and drafting technology, streamlining the milking process.
