Keen to be part of something new and exciting? We’re looking for a motivated Herd Manager to join us for the 2026/27 season on a new farm, where culture, performance, and people genuinely matter.
We’re a supportive, positive team who enjoy the work we do and look out for each other — but we’re also serious about farming well. We have high expectations when it comes to milking cows, animal health and feeding allocation with high attention to detail in the cow shed. If you take pride in doing a job properly and want to keep lifting your standards, you’ll fit right in.
The farm is located 15 minutes East of Asburton through a 80 Bail Rotary shed. (Auto teatsprayer and protrack)
2 years experience or a qualification Level 4 or above relevant to agriculture required .
Must be capable tractor operator and must be able to do rotorainers
Understands and takes responsibility for daily tasks such as running of the dairy, effluent
management and feeding.
Completes tasks with minimal supervision and can supervise and train other staff.
Looks for opportunities to work more effectively and efficiently to improve the business.
Duties include but not limited to:
· Milking: Manages an efficient and hygienic milking routine
· Animals: Manages safe handling of animals, records, reports and treat, any health issue
· Feed: Controls weeds. Sets break fences and feeds out as directed.
· Environment: Assists with nutrients, effluent and water management
· People: Manages junior farm staff. Works well with others, building a strong team culture
· Machinery Vehicles and Technology: Safely uses and maintains plant and farm vehicles.
