Currently seeking to fill the position of a strong Dairy Farm Assistant to join our family contract milking team. If you have a partner who can calf rear and relief milk under supervision, this will complement our team brilliantly.
Our cows are everything to us; their health and wellbeing come first, always, and that's not going to change. So strong animal husbandry skills and a genuine instinct for animal health are essential — this isn't optional, it’s the core to who we are. We calf in Spring and do not Winter Milk.
To make the shortlist: minimum 1 year of NZ dairy experience, and you need to be self-reliant and confident enough to get the girls in, start up and wash down the shed, detect mastitis, and shift fences — no handholding or double-checking required!
You'll be milking our beautiful 500-cow herd through our 36-bail rotary, fitted with ACR, in-shed feeding and automatic teat spray, so strong shed hygiene standards are a must. If Management need to step out - you need to be someone who can be left unsupervised for short periods and just get on with it. Feeding out and tractor skills are not essential but certainly a bonus!
